[00:00:00] Yes, yes, yes. It's that time again, everyone. Time for another episode of How Bette Davis Saved My Life.
[00:00:08] Life lessons from Classic Hollywood. The Late to the Party edition.
[00:00:12] And I just want to give you an update before we get started that hopefully Georgia will be joining us, joining us in the near future.
[00:00:24] Like I said, she's had some personal issues that she had to work through and the last report that I got is that she has worked through those issues and she may be returning with us. So just keep her and her family in her prayers. They had a death in the family unfortunately and of course we miss her and can't wait for her to be back with us.
[00:00:49] And since we are together, thank you so much for your time hanging in there with us. A couple of things I just wanted to address for our YouTube watchers, our YouTube channel, how better David Saved My Life.
[00:01:06] Apparently my posts had not been posting.
[00:01:12] Like the last thing I saw was that had been posted was in June 13th. Anyway guys, I, I, I thought on my end I had been posting and sometime I'll revisit some of our previous material, but apparently I had not. So it's not that I had not been working apparently YouTube had not been posting it.
[00:01:37] So not the videos because I would upload our videos like this but then in the meantime I would post some of our classic stuff. So I don't know but I have been posting. Just want to clear that up. But we are here right now. We are here together and I'm so glad you're with me and hanging in there with me. Shout out to all our new subscribers. Thank you so much for subscribing and I also want to give a shout out to our audio listeners out there on all the listening platforms. Thank you so much and just enjoy being with you guys. So this is a little different and, and this is for, for our live listeners. This is not going to be a live, I'm uploading, I'm recording live, but I'm uploading it because you know, life gets in the way and you have to plan your schedule and plan your, my, my wonderful podcast and my time with you around my life. So no, this is not a live Facebook live. But anyway, this is kind of a little different video because I've been watching so much stuff and unfortunately sometimes I forget what I've watched. But I, I remember where I watched it and I just want to share with you.
[00:02:51] New to me, probably old school, old news to you.
[00:02:56] Two channels. You know, I love, absolutely love British television, all things British, pretty much I love British history or English history, and love British movies and cinema and television and what have you. But I wanted to see if you guys knew like the name of this. Do you know this channel? Should have said, do you know these channels? I might change the title of this.
[00:03:25] Let's take a look at this. These channels.
[00:03:29] Because I've been watching so much stuff, I cannot remember everything. And I should have written it down.
[00:03:36] But take a look at it.
[00:03:41] Forgotten British Television.
[00:03:44] They have so much good stuff on there, okay.
[00:03:50] And I can say it's new to me. So shout out to Forgotten British Television.
[00:03:57] It's an archive of British TV series and programs that have never been.
[00:04:05] See what it says.
[00:04:07] Commercial release are no longer available. So, and. And you can go and look at the. Look at most the rest of description and you can support them at. Buy me a coffee. Okay. Which is really cool.
[00:04:21] But look at all this great stuff. So it ranges from like, gosh, I've seen stuff from the 60s, they may have older stuff all the way up to like the 90s and 2000s.
[00:04:35] But I mean, just great, great, great stuff. I go visit this channel. It's on YouTube, right?
[00:04:43] And I'm just scrolling for those of you who are listening. So again, it's Forgotten British Television.
[00:04:49] And. And it's a who's who of everybody we've ever seen.
[00:04:53] If you, if you're a fan of British telly, just a who's who.
[00:04:59] Everyone is on there. Here's Helen Marin, a young Helen Marin, a philanthropist. I'm gonna look at that later.
[00:05:09] What's her name? From formerly of Chemical, of. Of Sex in the City. She's. There's. She was in something on here. What was she not in? Right?
[00:05:21] But yeah, classic telly and the who's who of British stars. This is. Look at Aunt Joan from a series. Keep it in, Mom. It's a comedy series.
[00:05:32] A lot of great comedies, dramas, plays.
[00:05:38] So I am just indulging in all of it. So let me just show you what I've been watching on here really quickly.
[00:05:49] And again, thank you all for joining me. Now, you know who this is? This is. Well, if I click, if I hover over, it'll start moving.
[00:05:58] Get in the comments. Who is this person?
[00:06:00] Y' all know who this is?
[00:06:03] Famous, famous, famous classic British television actor. But he's also, you know, he a great actor in dramas and plays. Right?
[00:06:18] So put in the comments if y' all know who this is. He looks totally different. This is a quote unquote younger version of him. But we Know him from a world famous classic British comedy.
[00:06:31] I say it's, it's him and his. He stars as a husband with his wife who is off the chain with manners, let's just put it like that. Y' all know who this is and this guy also from a very famous British television comedy with a long lost love. So let me know in the comments who this is. So again it's who's who anybody who was anybody in British acting. But just really quickly I've been looking at this series right here, South Riding and let's see if I click on it and it'll probably put some, some dog on.
[00:07:22] Let me pause it because I don't want any font, I don't want any ads on there.
[00:07:31] Let me, let me pause it for a second. Sorry.
[00:07:38] South Riding is a series From I believe 1974, a TV series.
[00:07:45] And those of you who are, who are from the UK are familiar with how their television and all is this defunct Yorkshire Television production Color Yorkshire Television. Are they still around or that they get absorbed. But anyway I'm going all over the place because I just thought about that. But this is a great series. I'm on episode 11. So classic.
[00:08:11] I'm sorry, forgotten British television they apparently probably there's a time difference so it'll say like 12 episodes have been uploaded but probably because this person who owns the channel obviously they're in UK time so they'll have all the episodes numbered but we over here in the US won't get them to like maybe a day later or something. So just you know, don't freak out. That's probably what's going on. But this is a great series, a drama about the, about what they call the last town in, in England because this kind of sits on right on the, the water and I forget what body of water it is. If you look at the series. I don't, I don't know is South Riding an actual place? I should have looked that up. But anyway it sits right on the edge apparently of the high, the island, the British Isles or whatever. And so it's a little sleepy town. They have other little, I don't know what you call it over there, but other areas around it and sleepy town, small town, everybody knows everybody and there's just these serious, these, these, these lives that are intertwined with political intrigue, family drama, the haves and the have nots, the super poor against the used to be owner, the lord of the land. Now with new money coming in and influencing and it's just really really, really good. And I don't want to give it away too much, but you'll see people like Hermione badly in it. And again, who I'm not going to say because I already asked you about. Do you know who that is out. Our husband. Our hidden pecked husband from the classic British comedy series I, I alluded to earlier, but just this guy here, he's like the villain, quote unquote. But he's kind of like the new money and the old money is going out and there's a power struggle. So just go look at it. It's really, really, really good. South riding. I'm on episode 11. I don't know how many they have, but I, I tend to prefer the, the older series like from the 70s and maybe the 80s.
[00:10:30] That's why I like that era of British television. But anyway, let's go to another channel that I want to talk about and it is Classic British Telly.
[00:10:46] And again I should have written down. I just was binge watching so much stuff that it was insane how much stuff I was looking at and I didn't, I did not write it down but I do remember some of them. So here is Classic British Telly and a series that I looked at and I also looked at a bunch of Noel Coward plays.
[00:11:11] Excellent stuff. I love Noel Coward.
[00:11:15] Somerset. W. Somerset. Mom. I like his, his stuff as well. But anyway, this was a series and it had four parts called Echoes and this is Classic British Telly. So now we're on another, another channel and it says Classic British Telly brings you a unique selection of programs and clips that are mostly not available elsewhere. And you can go and read some more of their stuff, the description and please, please, please go to their channel and support them as well. And I, and I plan on watching more of their stuff but like I said, it's new to me and I, and I didn't, I was looking at stuff and I didn't know it was them until I said oh, what else? This is good stuff coming from. And then oh, okay. But anyway, you probably already know all this, but Echoes and absolutely wonderful four part series again that, that time frame I love 1980s and then so it's 1950s Ireland. Claire O' Brien longs to escape from the confines of sleepy seaside resort Castle Bay, based on the novel by Maeve Benchy. And I. I should have looked it up. Maybe I'll look it up before we get out of here.
[00:12:37] I've. I've. What else did she write? Guys? Let me know in the Comment. But comments. Because I know I've looked at some more of her stuff before. That name is really familiar to me. But Echoes and excellence. So this.
[00:12:51] And, and I just, you know, and I hate spoilers. That's why I never give you all the details and stuff. I cut myself off. But this is. This, this series was about. This young girl has so much academic talent and future and she, you know, she comes from the wrong side of tracks and she winds up attracting and marrying. I'm giving away a little bit, but I'm not gonna give it all. The boy from the right side of tracks. And then just tragedies and a lot of personalities and stuff get involved and. And it's just really good. So go check that out. So that's Echoes on classic British Telly. Right.
[00:13:32] And then let's go over here and.
[00:13:37] And then we go to forgotten British Telly. Is it telly or television for south riding?
[00:13:47] That's what I'm looking at. Okay. That's what I'm looking at. So go back and take a look at that. Those channels because they are so. Forgotten British tv. Yeah.
[00:13:57] Forgotten British television.
[00:14:00] And you will just binge watch all of those. So let me know what you think in the comments.
[00:14:07] We can talk about them. I have. Oh, one more thing.
[00:14:11] So this is. I think this is the. Let me share it.
[00:14:17] One of the first things I saw on classic British telly, which I. Again, I had no idea.
[00:14:28] I saw this first a while back.
[00:14:32] Dear box number starring Julia McKenzie and Bernard Hepton. And you've seen them. If you are a classic British television fan or movies plays, you've seen this woman and tons of things and apparently she had her own TV show, comedy.
[00:14:53] But you know, like I say, new to me and this gentleman, you've seen him in a ton of things. Let's see.
[00:15:01] Yeah.
[00:15:02] So, Dear Box numbers, I want to save this one for Georgia and I to review and talk about. But this is. I think this is one of the first things I. I saw from this channel. So classic British telly and forgotten British television. Well, that's all I have for you guys. Like I said, I want to do something a little different besides the going on over horrible. A whole movie. I know you already know these two channels. Let me know what you think about these channels. Go and check out their stuff and give them some clicks and views. Like all of us. We appreciate it. Thank you guys so much for hanging in there with me. And I hope to see you all really soon and get Georgia back with us. You guys Take care and I cannot wait to see you. Don't forget to subscribe comment like share all that good stuff. See you soon.
